Transportation from Cape Town International Airport to the City Center

Cape Town International Airport is approximately 25 km from the center of Cape Town and will take approximately 20 minutes to travel by car.  Transportation options from the airport include taxis, shuttles, bus or car hire.

Taxis are available outside the airport and will cost approximately R350-R450 to the city center.  

Airport shuttles can be booked online in advance and will take you from the airport to any point in Cape Town, starting at R200. Some shuttle companies include:

The MyCiti bus provides regular shuttle bus service from the airport into the city. There is a MyCiti kiosk at the airport where you can purchase a single ticket or reusable card if you plan to use the bus frequently during your stay.  The fare from the airport to the city center is R85 and busses leave the airport every 30 minutes.  More information is available at: http://myciti.org.za/en/routes/airport-service/

Car Hire companies include Europcar, Hertz, Avis and others.  Rates and requirements vary by car type, length of rental and company.

South African Visitor Visa

An entry visa for South Africa may be required.  Please see http://www.home-affairs.gov.za/index.php/immigration-services/exempt-countries to determine if you will need to apply for a South African visitor visa.  If you would like a letter of support for your visa from the conference organizers, we will be able to issue one only once you are fully registered for the conference.
